Mood: sad
With the family gathered around, my mother passed away at 12:00 P.M at South Lake hospital in Newmarket. She was 82.
She was a feisty soul who spoke her mind on just about any issue. However, she was generous and fair to her children in either reprimanding or rewarding us.
After my father's death, she had to rely on her initative to find work and pay the bills. She did this by working as a "Nurse's Aid" in Newmarket. The job was heavy and demanding, but she did it anyway.(My mother was less than five feet tall and slightly built.)
If she was cranky with one of us, she would say she's sorry. I must add that my mother suffered pain from Arthritis and Parkinson's Disease, that sometimes influenced her bahavior. However, she always tried to be sociable and make us a good dinner. Her apple pies were something to die for.
Doreen will be remembered as a loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, to sons, David and wife, Irene, Robert and wife, Donna, Ted and wife, Daphne, daughter, Linda and seven grandchildren, Julie, Chris, Laura, Jenny, Michael, James and Greg.
My mother has gone to join my father(Eddy Barron) who died in 1968. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Please remember those who fought for their country. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day.
