Much has been made of the term "Own The Podium" in "The Vancouver Winter Olympics". This was our misguided way of trying to obtain more metals than other countries in the world. All this achieved was more stress on our athletes than they needed. A bobsled turned over, skiers were injured and a top ranked figure skater fell in his best routine.
The whole idea of the Olympics is to give your personal best in that particular competition. It's really summed up in this quote: "For when the One Great Scorer comes To write against your name, He marks - not that you won or lost - But how you played the Game."
Despite the fact that Canada ranks fifth with a medal count of only 11, I've been very impressed by "The Canadian Curling Teams" and "Virtue and Moir" who took the gold in the couple's ice dance.
Personally, I'd love to see "The Canadian Hockey Team" win gold, but I realize that both the U.S. and the Russians have excellent teams as well. In fact, most of them play in the N.H.L.
