Movie Review 117: Dead Man's Chest
Mood:  down

It's hard to believe that "Pirates Of The Caribibbean, Part Two" held the weekend boxoff record until eclipsed by Spiderman three this weekend.

This film used the usual formula for sequel success. Whatever the audience liked in the original, you gave them more of it: More fight scenes, more fights with the undead, more scenes with monsters, more scenes of fighting with a huge monster, more incredible escapes and more attempts at making Johnny Depp funny. Most of the time, he just looked loaded on alcohol.

Occasionally, something was funny like Jack Sparrow on a pole that resembled a huge shiskkebab. Most of the time, he resembled something done too long in the oven. Two stars.
