I'm Voting Liberal
Mood:  suave
Liberals have the best program for early child development and daycare.

The Conservatives are giving too many tax breaks to too many people. There could be a problem with a deficit up the road.

Stephen Harper is too slick and cool. He reminds me of a used car salesmen.

The people of Canada want change and new faces in the federal government, therefore, the Conservatives should win a majority. It would be good if they reduced the "Blockhead Quebec Party" to a mere rump.

I'm voting for a Liberal, Ruby Dhalla, in Brampton-Springdale.

Please note, that Stephen Harper appears more like Mike Harris and less like former Ontario premier, Bill Davis.

M.P.s Stats: Website Of The Week
Mood:  bright
With a couple of days to go before the next federal election, it's interesting that someone has compiled various statistics on Canadian M.P.s.

The most fascinating are stats on "words spoken" and "days absent".

If someone is really doing his/her job, he/she would be there most of the time and participate in most of the debates.

All parties have layabouts who are ill or just plain lazy. Personally, they should be voted out of their comfortable pensionable government job.

This is an excellent expose. Find them out and throw them out.

Somebody Got Their Wires Crossed
Mood:  accident prone
The lastest "permanent job" for Irene proved to be a bust. Apparently, it's suppose to last five weeks, but she's going to finish it off this week.

This is very disappointing for both of us. Irene told many placement companies that she wanted a job for at least a year minimum. Memories can be short in this business when commissions are involved.

It's back to the usual internet job boards at Workopolis, CPA and Happenlink.

Somewhere along the way, the window of opportunity will open.

Irene Is Back To Work
Mood:  celebratory
After eight months of continuous searching, My wife, Irene, finally found a job that may be permanent after three months.

This has been a tough go for both of us. A rep at "Human Resources Canada" still didn't believe that payroll companies like "ADP and "Ceridian" don't offer their courses to unemployed payroll administrators.(The above courses are only offered to contracted companies with employed payroll people.)

She starts tomorrow at her new job.

If you would like to see Irene's resume and related employment experience, check out her business webpage.

Best Negative Political Ad Of The Week
Mood:  surprised
"Stephen Harper has a dog. You know who else had a dog? Hitler. Adolf Hitler. That's who. Did Stephen Harper train his dog to attack racial minorities on command? We don't know. He's not saying. Choose your Canada."

Why can't all the political ads be like this?

The Canadian Federal Election
Mood:  smelly
While the Liberals seem to have the best attack ads so far(see the link below), they haven't shaken the perception that they've been corrupted by too much power and money over the last 12 years.

Paul Martin often looks tired and frustrated while Stephen Harper comes across as "Mike Harris Lite" with lots of cool.(Mike Harris, the former premier of Ontario started strong but ended up putting Ontario into a deficit position with too many tax cuts.)

I'm not a supporter of the Conservatives(the Liberals have better policies), but I feel voters want a change from Liberal arrogance and hype.

The Conservatives should win a majority this time out.

Check out the videos.

Tri-Tec Industries RIP
Mood:  sad
The place where my wife, Irene, used to work, Tri-Tec Industries, has finally went "tits up".

Fortunately, Irene, received a severance package eight months ago when she was laid off . It is highly unlikely that those who were recently let go received a severance/termination package.

Basically, I believe that Tri-Tec tried to expand too quickly and too expensively. Small companies don't have deep pockets.

The company made CD/DVD jewel boxes.

Check out the websites of Tri-Tec and its branch plant in the U.S. called Dynamic Molding before they're discontinued.

Movie Review 96: Polar Express
The film was halfway between real people and cartoon people. The end results were people that seemed cool and distant.

The story would have been better served by genuine humans who could interact with each other in complicated delightful ways.

Great special effects often took center stage to the dramatic ambiguous reality of the train and the storyline.

The ending was heartwarming and satisfying.

This was a high concept movie that wasn't fully realized for different reasons: Two and a half stars.

Canada Still Number One In Hockey
Mood:  party time!
I saw most of the game tonight. Russia started strongly with lots of shots on goal, but couldn't score on the Canadian goalie. This was very discouraging to their players. The Canadians took a two goal lead in the first period and never looked back. The final score was 5 to 0 for Canada.

I remember when I was kid how excited I was watching the Barrie Flyers play. That feeling came back tonight.

Now, if the Toronto Maple Leafs could win the Stanley Cup, it would be a perfect hockey year.
