Top Ten Worst Oldies
Mood:  down

You can still hear most of these songs on the radio. Some of them were big hits. They all suffer from tedious repetition and/or maudlin/stupid lyrics. Check out the songs:
1.Last Kiss/J.Frank Wilson 2.Leader Of The Pack/The Shangri-Las 3.See The Funny Little Clown/Bobby Goldsboro 4.Surfer Bird/The Trashmen 5.Hey Jude/The Beatles 6.Sympathy For The Devil/The Rolling Stones 7.Anyway You Want Me/Elvis Presley 8.You Are My Destiny/Paul Anka 9.Do The Freddy/Freddy And The Dreamers 10.My Boy Lollipop/Little Millie Small

Got your own top ten list on anything? Please send it to me.

The Foreigner
Mood:  don't ask
The only reason I watched this is because my wife is a Steven Seagal fan. More of the same gratutious boring repetitious violence. Heavy body count of innocent victims senselessly snuffed out. Awful stuff. Zero stars. Read the other reviews here.

Movie Review 40: How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days
Mood:  quizzical
My wife and a girlfriend gave this movie three stars. However, I did have reservations about this film. Matthew McConaughey was not good as the leading man. It would have been funnier if he brought more emotions including anger to this role. Kate Hudson on the other hand was quite good in expressing the diverse moods of her character. There were some good laughs and sentimental moments, but many times the pace was prodding and the dialogue boring. Two stars for this so-so chick flick: Other Reviews For "How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days"

The Tentative Canadian Postie Contract
The CUPW Toronto Local seems to be leading the "no side" in the ratification vote at the end of August. On the "yes side" is the National Office in Ottawa.
Check out the latest news in contract wars. Who's going to win? Who cares anyway? They're just different levels of a union fighting each other.

Movie Review 39: The Game
Mood:  down
Lots of roads and mysteries that go nowhere in this Michael Douglas thriller. Three quarters of the way through, the story seems to be going in a certain direction, but to no one's suprise the director and the screenwriter have painted themselves into a corner where only an unbelievable twist can get the plot out of its predicament. It wasn't suicide. It was sewerside. One and a half stars. It could have been worse.

It's Not Over Until It's Over
Mood:  irritated
The militants in the CUPW Toronto Local want to defeat "The Tentative Agreement" reached by CUPW's national negotiating committee. Let's face it. We have extremists in this union that want to indulge in their favourite activity: strikes, preferably long ones. You might call this " the uncompromising confrontation tactic" where we try to force Canada Post to agree to our demands. Obviously, this doesn't work and we get a legislated contract for our trouble, but in the meantime, the radicals have their "holy war" against the Corporation and we all end up as martyrs including small businesses. Personally, I conduct my own "holy war" against these militants so their destructive tendencies are minimumized.
This is the website of the Toronto Local.
