The Guys From Google Join The Crusade Against Coal Plants
Mood: a-ok

The founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brim are putting more money into renewable energies like "Geothermal Power" and "Solar Thermal Power" which eventually will put coal plants out of business.
The motto of Google is "Don't Be Evil". I'm sure they're trying to live up to their motto.

Apparently, one financial analyst was negative about these investments. He said in New York, "This makes me worry about Google's priorities".
If saving the planet isn't a priority, than I wonder what is.
It would be helpful if Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and any other person with big bucks joined this crusade too. Avoiding the human and environmental costs of "Global Warming", should be priority for anyone.
The new technology of the 21st century is green technology. It will replace the old fossil fuel technology and the infrastructure that goes with it.
Perhaps, all we need is someone to complete the research of Nikola Tesla on powerful wireless energy transmission.

Take Nothing For Granted In This World

When a person is born into this world he/she is born into a dangerous environment. There are thousands of things that can kill and disable us at any moment.
As a baby, one depends on one's parents for safety and health. As one gets older, the community and government services help us to learn, get a job and stay healthy.
Behind the umbrella of human institutions, there's another world that either protects us from terminal disease, criminals and accidents or doesn't. To make it work for you, there has to be some belief in its existence and power.
When a crisis situation develops, one recognizes the vulnerabilities of his/her human condition and the need of a greater power to help out. A baby in his mother's arms or in car has that special faith that protects him. He lets "Jesus Take The Wheel."

Corey Pirotta Travels To A Place Of Peace

Corey Pirotta journeyed into the Afterlife today. He was only a "visiting angel" who discovered the joys and pains of human existence in a short time.
With their primitive tools, doctors were unable to do much about the cancer spreading throughout his body.
It's a testimony to Corey's fighting power that he lived as long as he did. Other children with the same type of cancer succumbed years ealier.
It was only a few weeks ago that I wrote a blog on Corey's fund raising event.
It's a mystery why lives are cut short like that. However, such a death would focus Cory's attention on what killed him and it should motivate him to battle this perniculous evil from the spirit world. Look how Terry Fox's death lead to improvements in fighting cancer.
My wife and I extend our sympathies to Corey's family. We are good friends with his father, Keith.

It's Time To Shut Down Coal-Producing Plants In The World

Coal plants are responsible for about a quarter of the pollution and global warming in the world. There are alternatives to these plants. The most popular one is nuclear which Canada uses in abundance. However, Canada does have a coal producing plant in Nanticoke, Ontario which will be shut down in 2012.
What is your country doing about dirty electricity and global warming? Here's a list of the top ten polluters in the world:

How Not To Get A Canadian Passport

I find it unbelievable that a doctor can be an acceptable passport
guarantor on one kind of passport form and not another.
Why is my doctor, Gerald Goldman, not acceptable as a guarantor on a passport application? He's been a doctor in Canada for close to 40 years. He's known my wife and I for over 15 years. He has been a guarantor for hundreds of passport applications in the past.

Nothing has changed about his blue chip credentials.

Unfortunately his status changed as a guarantor because he doesn't have a passport himself. However, he could be "acceptable" again, if I could find an "old passport form" for him
to fill out. (That advice came from Ruby Dhalla's office.)

Obviously, what's important here is forms and/or fields on forms rather than the validity of what's in them.

Passports should contain truthful content guaranteed by certified Canadian professionals.

My doctor's validity as a guarantor didn't change because he doesn't have a passport.

A Special Remembrance Day

For the first time in 39 years, I visited my mother, Doreen Barron and my father, Edwin Barron in the same place. This was at Barrie Union Cemetery. My father died in March/1968. My mother passed away on Nov/10/06.
I have many fond memories of both my mother and father. My father was a World War Two veteran who guarded German POWs. After the war, he was promoted to sargent and taught militia personnel with The Grey and Simcoe Foresters. I was one of the recruits that he taught. He also got me a position as a temporary railway postal clerk during my highschool summer holidays. Eventually, I ended up with a permanent postal job in Toronto.
My mother always gave me sound advice on financial planning that I sometimes followed and sometimes didn't . She also helped me with various debts including my present mortgage.
She treated my wife, Irene, like a daughter and I'm very thankful for that.
Remembrance Day teaches us that we shouldn't take good things for granted. Our freedom from oppression was won by the sacrifices of others. I lost two uncles in World War Two.
We all have battles to fight in life and we must do our best to leave this world a better place than we found it.
There is divine help available for those who are committed to improving the lot of humanity.

Sure, The U.S. Isn't The Powerhouse It Once Was

With subprime housing market fears still lingering and the U.S. dollar reaching new lows against other currencies is there any cause for optimism in the world's biggest economy?
Well, there are bargains in the U.S. besides the real estate, the vacations and the consumer goods. The multinational companies on the Dow are still getting good profits from a lower dollar and high productivity. Also, the "Price to Earning Stock Ratios" are better in the U.S. markets than most other markets in the world.
In the past, U.S. investors have survived multiple wars, double digit inflation, the saving and loans meltdown, and the tech bubble.
The current currency, stock and real estate corrections leave opportunities that real investors shouldn't leave alone.
Who wouldn't want a piece of Microsoft, GE, Intel, Boeing, Coke A Cola, etc. at a good price? These companies still pay very good dividends.
I'm a Canadian and I'm going to put my overvalued Canadian dollars to good use in blue chip undervalued U.S. investments.

A Friendly Neighbourhood Bear

An atheist was walking through the woods.
'What majestic trees'!
'What powerful rivers'!
'What beautiful animals'!
He said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.
He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer. He tripped & fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, 'Oh my God!'
Time Stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. 'You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.' 'Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer'?
The atheist looked directly into the light, 'It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian'?
'Very Well,' said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:
'Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.'
