The Fight Against Cancer Continues

The best way to fight cancer is to build up your immune system and physical condition, so it's continually resisted. The program that I'm working on has been successful in doing this job.

  1. I drink a strong anti-oxidant, pomergranate juice, which has shown effectiveness against prostate cancer.
  2. I take "Prosta Ease" which is benefical to prostate health.
  3. I exercise 20 minutes a day, four times a week.
  4. Since January, I've been on a weight reduction program and I've lost 20 pounds during that time.
  5. Fruit smoothies made with protein/vitamin/mineral powder and frozen fruits are a vital part of this program.
  6. My diet also includes lemon juice in warm water, mueslix cereal, almonds, pumkin seeds, walnuts, salad with lean turkey or chicken breast, and, of course, lots of water.

Yesterday, my urologist gave me a clean bill of health on my PSA tests. He said cancer grows in the fatty cells of the body and it was good that I reduced some weight. I don't have to see him for another six months.

Bookstore Emergency

The young man realizes his father has swallowed a silver dollar and starts to panic, shouting for help. A well dressed, attractive and serious looking woman, in a blue business suit is sitting at a coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, carefully puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper and places it on the counter, arises from her seat, and makes her way, unhurried, across the bookstore.

Reaching the young man's father, the woman carefully drops his pants. She takes hold of his testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever more firmly. After a few seconds the father convulses violently and coughs up the silver dollar, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand. Releasing the father's testicles, the woman hands the coin to the young man and walks back to her seat in the coffee bar without saying a  word.

As soon as he is sure that his father has suffered no ill effects, the young man rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying,  "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you  a doctor?" "No," the woman replied. "Divorce  attorney".

The Stanley Cup Playoffs Begin:Senators Vs The Ducks

For the first time in hockey history, "The Ottawa Senators" will be playing "The Anaheim Not-So-Mighty Ducks" for the Stanley Cup.

As a tribute to ducks everywhere, Here is my top ten list of feathered and nonfeathered friends:

  1. Donald Duck: Short-tempered animated duck who rarely wore pants.
  2. Scrooge McDuck: The Jack Benny of Duckburg.
  3. Daffy Duck: Lovable, screwball feather-brain, who many have managed the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  4. Howard The Duck: Comic book character brought to life in fowlest movie ever made.
  5. Darkwing Duck: Parody of the superhero genre who's theme was "Lets get dangerous."
  6. Disco Duck: Rick Dee's song creation about a man who turns into a duck on the dance floor. "Disco duck" really means "disco sucks".
  7. Peking Duck: Chinese delicacy, rivals "Duck A l'Orange".
  8. Dallas Drake: First quacked the NHL in 1992 with the Wings(Detroit not Buffalo).
  9. Rubber Ducky: Inanimate bath toy to whom a wistful Ernie expressed fondness.
  10. John Brophy: Meanest, baddest dude on Long Island Ducks of the Eastern Hockley League who once said: "Once you're a Duck, you're a Duck the rest of your life".

No Surprises On American Idol
Mood:  happy

The best moments of the night were all the previous American Idols singing songs from the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

Without Belinda Dolittle in the finals, the whole event became a coronation for Jordin Sparks as American Idol. Obviously, baby boomer support was behind her and not "beatboxer" Blake Lewis.

Carrie Underwood is still the biggest star to come out of American Idol and Taylor Hicks is still the Idol that many love to hate.

I think the time has come to throw out the age requirements for Idol and let singers of any genre compete.

The American Idol Finale Goes To.....

Both Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks did their best to win American Idol tonight. Both singers appeal to two different audiences. I'd say that Blake appeals to the "hip-hop" and the "alternate rock crowd," while Jordin is a middle-of-the-road pop, soft rock entertainer that appeals to an older audience.

Personally, I feel that anyone who voted for Belinda Dolittle will vote for Jordin Sparks and not Blake Lewis.

Jordin, obviously, has more singing ability than Blake, but Blake has that novelty "beatbox approach" which goes over well with "hip urban people". Jordin has  "a vulnerable little girl quality" that has brought tears to my eyes occasionally. All things considered, she should get more votes than Blake who tried extremely hard to win.

My prediction is that Jordin will win and both contestants will have successful careers.

High Stakes At Niagara Falls Casinos
Mood:  vegas lucky

At one time, you could play craps or blackjack at the Niagara casino with a minimun bet of $5. This was usually in the morning before the herd of gamblers arrived in the afternoon. A $50 dollars stake could get you a few hours of fun and you might win a dollar or two.

However, things have changed. The five dollar crap table is still there, but it's usually overcrowded. The minimum bet on Blackjack Saturday was $10 and that went up to $15 at 11:00 A.M.

When we arrived at the casino today, the minimun bet at Blackjack was $15 at 9:30 A.M. So much for a cheap table that you could play for hours. I only had $50 dollars to play with and used that up in 15 minutes. Fortunately, I won more than I lost and I walked away with $17.50 in winnings. For the whole weekend, I won a grand total of $30 dollars. I didn't play that long, because I didn't have a huge amount of money to gamble. I know my limit and I play within it.

My basic strategy is to bet my money a little at a time, than stop playing when my stake is finished and see how much I've won.

Obviously, the games at the casinos are moving away from the average player and going after the high rollers who are often complusive gamblers. To play for a few hours, probably, requires a couple of hundred dollars now. I don't like it, but what can I do about it. Just bring more gambling money to the casino, but play less in a year.

Two New Domain Addresses

I have many domain names with www.godaddy.com. Over the last few weeks, they've had a sale on "info" domains for 99 cents each. Remember www.cupw.info(CUPW Guy In CUPW Land). I bought that one for $.99.

Despite being on a tight budget, I bought two more "info domains". One if for my fun resume website at www.davebarron.info and the other one is a website on loglines(www.logline.info). What they are and what to do with them.

Domain addresses simply help friends and visitors find and navigate around your websited quickly. Even this blog has a domain address connected with it(www.barronblog.com).

All the best on the Victoria Day weekend.
