A Portal Through The Space Time Continuum
Making first contact with other life forms is a dream that many of us have. It could be through space travel, but more likely it will come about through radio waves(SETI)or internet links. Obviously, it's easier sending and receiving messages than bodies and starships through space.

Science fiction, myths and even religions are attempts to visualize first contacts. It will happen, but maybe not in my lifetime.

Happy Birthday Barron Blog
Mood:  celebratory
Yesterday, the "Barron Blog" celebrated its second anniversary. During that time, it has given birth to 613 entries. Hopefully, this blog will continue through this lifetime and into the next if I can find a way to do it.

Please note that my grandson Devon Hussey turned 11 on Feb/10/05 and his father, Steven Hussey turns 39 on Feb/14/05. Happy birthday guys.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody.

What's Been Happening With My Day Job?
Mood:  not sure
Still working lots of overtime in the Toronto Exchange Office at Canadian Post(Three days this weekend). I wrote letters to the local/national union presidents and the president of Canada Post(Ann Joynt) concerning our need for more full time staff in our section(TEO).

Over the last year, the mail volume at our facility has more than tripled.

Needless to say, no postal or union honcho has answered my letters so far.

Movie Review 89: Phantom Of The Paradise
You might call this a rock of version of "Faust" meeting the "Phantom of the Opera". The songs tell the story just as well as the plot.

It's satire that takes more than one viewing to understand.

It's well sung and well acted. Perhaps, too deep for most audiences.

Definitely, it's a cult favourite with me. Three and half stars.

Top Ten Things You Don't Say To A Traffic Cop
1. I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer. (OK in Texas)2. Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in. 3.Aren't you the guy from the Village People? 4. Are You Andy or Barney? 5. I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer. 6. You're not gonna check the trunk, are you? 7. Gee, Officer! That's terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too! 8. I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around.. That's how far ahead of me they are. 9. When the Officer says "Gee .Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?" You probably shouldn't respond with,"Gee Officer your eyes look glazed, have you been eating doughnuts?" 10. I saw you turn on your flashers when you went through that red light a few miles back. Lets call it even.

"Boogeyman" Number One At The Boxoffice
Despite incredibly bad reviews, "Boogeyman" trounced the competition at the boxoffice over the weekend. Obviously, there's still a big demand for mysterious spooky bad guys.

The promise of chills and thrills continue to drive young audiences into theatres.

There is some dispute, however, as to what is actually delivered in this film.

The Greatest Music Of All Time
Very soon, I will be compiling my top 490 songs of all time. Why not 500? Well, Sony's Atrac software only burns 490 melodies on a single CD.

I have listened to thousands of songs from the 1930s to present time. Every era produce its own hits.

The song list will be placed on a separate webpage with references concerning the tunes.

Hope you enjoy this star-studded material.

The Top Songs Of All Time
Mood:  cool
These would be songs that you can listen to hundreds even thousand of times.

Since 1940, there might be 1500 hundred songs that might fill that description. While there have been many good songs over the last 25 years, I can't see them amounting to 1500. Can you remember the top number one songs over the last five years?

Songs express just about every mood and experience of the human condition. We can feel very intensely about different things even funny stuff. Check out "novelty tunes" when you get the chance.

Groundhog Day 2005
Mood:  down
A groundhog is simply a squirrel on steriods.

Like most experts, they disagree with each other. The ones in Nova Scotia and Pennsylvania predict six more weeks of winter while the ones in Ontario and Alberta predict an early spring.

We spend millions on weatherforcasting and then leave it to a rodent to look into his crystal ball.

Not only is this crap. It's boring crap. The Bill Murray movie("Groundhog Day") was more interesting than any real Groundhog Day, past or present.
