Remembering Graceworld: The Origins Of Rock And Roll
In order to deal with the great age of this universe and the beings in it, the powers that be rediscovered "rock and roll" as a way to define eternal youth. The location of rediscovery was a destroyed planet called "Graceworld" about 12 to 15 light years from earth.

If any of you have a trace memory of this world, I would be happy to hear from you and compare notes.

A Superstar At Trivia
Mood:  bright
Trivia games like chess games undoubtedly will be won by the most skilled and intelligent players. This is certainly true of Ken Jenning's million dollar run on Jeopardy. Very seldom did I ever see anyone even close to him.

Remembering detailed information on any subject is a very challenging. It's great to see a grandmaster in this game get rewarded.

Renovating, Constructing And Writing
When you renovate a house, you fix things that are broken and don't fix things that are ok.

You can also add value to a house by improving its appearance and usefulness(e.g. covering wood with vinyl siding, putting in a larger closet, adding a door from a hallway to the garage, etc., etc.). With writing and webpages, you do similiar activities. Fix what needs to be fixed and add improvements to the creative works which enhance their value.

I've always been open to suggestions that actually fix and improve any of my artistic works. The quest for quality is never ending and I appreciate any real help from a mentor or interested person.

Some Mysteries Are Stupid
Mood:  d'oh
Why is it that night falls but day breaks?
Do people in Australia call the rest of the world 'up over'?
Does that screwdriver belong to Philip?
Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips?
If space is a vacuum, who changes the bags?
Did Noah keep his bees in archives?
When they asked George Washington for ID, did he just whip out a quarter?
If cats and dogs didn't have fur would we still pet them?
Why do the signs that say "Slow Children" have a picture of a running child?
How come wrong numbers are never busy?

Owning A House: A Three Project Saturday
How do you get three house projects almost finished on July/10/04? Well you either have lots money for labor or lots of family and friends with carpentry and landscaping skills. Fortunately, we had the latter.

It was a busy, hot day with five buddies assisting us, but we managed to make great headway on an expanded closet in the office, a door to the garage from the kitchen hallway, and extensive landscaping improvements in our garden.

My wife, a Newfoundlander, certainly knew how to organize and supervise this volunteer workforce. The rewards: free dinners at our place and burned CDs of their choice.

A great job was done by all concerned. Well done, Joni, Leslie, Richard, Joe and Erin. The downeast spirit is alive and well in Brampton Canada.

Canadian Idol Notes
While there are many fine young singers on Canadian Idol, I find the judges comments lacklustre and unenlightening.

The judges have a tendency to back each other up rather than giving individualist, thoughtful and well considered opinion. I hate to say this but the "experts" on Canadian Idol are worse than those on American Idol.

The more passionate and specific a judge can be on a performance. The more the performer and audience can benefit from the analysis.

I find the best music critics and reviewers are columists in newspapers. They tell they audience exactly what they like or dislike in a performance and then rate the entertainer on a star system. No such quality or quantity assessment exists on Canadian/American Idol.

For the above reasons, I'll only watch the occasional show.

I Got A Severance Package
You may think that I was just terminated from my job but that isn't the case. While some supervisors may think that I've gone into early retirement, I'm still working regularly and drawing a paycheck every two weeks. I also get a fair amount of overtime in my section.

Many others got their severances too, but they liked the paychecks so much they kept showing up to get them.

The only place that this could happen is the Canadian Post Office. Getting your severance doesn't mean you're out of a job. It's just like getting a big bonus."Only in Canada? What a pity."

Beware Of The Dwarf
Mood:  on fire
A dwarf escapes from prison where he has been for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns and finds a young couple in bed.

He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the girl to the bed, he gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom, While he's in there, the husband tells his wife: "Listen, this guy's an escaped convict, look at his clothes. He probably spent lots of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain, do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us. Be strong honey, I love you."

The wife replies: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me he was gay, thought you were cute and asked if we had any vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong. honey. I love you too!!!
