Election Night In Canada
Mood: d'oh
Fahrenheit/9/11 is number one at the boxoffice. Iraq has a new government and here in Canada I have a choice between three stooges for Prime Minister: Moe(Paul Martin)Larry(Jack Layton)and Curly(Stephen Harper) What a choice.

Looks like the Liberals will form the first minority Government in Canada in 25 years. Does anyone remember Joe Clark and the Conservative minority in 1979?

Endless Card Games
Mood: vegas lucky
There's certain card games that I've played over a trillion times, both in this lifetime and in many other lifetimes.

I know that I don't like losing and deep down inside, I'd like to win "The Championship Of The Universe" in certain games like Euchre.

Have you ever felt the same way? Wouldn't you like to beat all contestants everywhere? What a challenge that would be.

Bashing Is Easy. Debate Is Difficult
Mood: smelly
It seems easier for one politician to bash another than to engage in an intelligent debate on something.

Elections have a tendency to dumb down issues and fixate on stereotypes concerning political parties or leaders who lean to "the left or right."

If one can make a certain politician look worse than oneself, then the attacker wins because "he looks better by comparision".

Arousing negative emotions and attitudes seem to be the favoured tactic rather than well reasoned and well researched arguments.

The demonizing and generalizing give a bad taste in one's mouth for politicos and political parties. That's why many choose not to vote at all.

The Passion Of Michael Moore
Mood: on fire
When a filmmaker is passionate about his subject matter, it certainly communicates well to a passive audience.

Fahrenheit/9/11 certainly creates an emotional reaction negatively or positively with its fans and critics.

I can see this film going to number one at the box office this weekend.

So what, if it's partisan or controversial, this will just assist the documentary in gettting a bigger boxoffice take.

Check out the Nixon documentary "Millhouse" if you get a chance.

My Life: It's More Than My Earthly Existence
Anyone reading this blog should know that I consider "my life" more than the sum of my physical experiences as David Barron. The journey of my basic self(spirit/soul)into intuitive knowledge and past lives is as valid as any human perception past, present or future.

The detailed artistic works of J.K. Rawlings, Stephen King, Gene Roddenberry, Isaac Asimov, George Lucas, etc, etc. seem to point in that direction.

The memories of the soul can come out as hideous nightmares or incredible hi-tech dreams.

To know a person well is to know the shape of his inner life as well as his outer appearance. In that respect, it's highly likely that Bill Clinton failed in his autobiograpy: Too many mundane external details.

Investing In A House And Property
Recently, my wife and I spent $3300 on a new bathroom and $5700 on vinyl siding.

Renovations enhance the value of a house and vinyl siding also provides greater insulation for rooms that are upstairs.

We'll be getting a rebate from the Government for the siding upgrade.

Like many others, we lost money on the stock market, but we've gained with enhanced real estate values.

What do you think is a good investment these days?

How Could The Liberals Win A Majority?
By winning more seats in Quebec, but that won't be easy because Gilles Duceppe of the Bloc Quebecois has successfully played the "accountability card" there. In a sentence, it could be spelled out as follows: "The Government scandals were Liberal and not Quebecois."

As I stated in my blog of June/16/04, Martin has to take a "hardline position" on government waste and/or fraud beyond the Auditor General's actions. This would be a broad Liberal plan to deal with governmental fiscal irregularities before they become "Sink Holes".

The Prime Minister hasn't done the above and it could cost him a majority by denying his party seats in Quebec. That's my viewpoint.

This has to go to the Liberal ad people who have successfully lumped Brian Mulroney(43 billion dollar deficit),Mike Harris(6 billion dollar deficit)and Stephen Harper together as the "Three Conservative Fiscal Stooges." This is the latest TV ad by the Liberal party that goes for the jugular on the subject of fiscal responsibility. Three stars

Who's Going To Win The Canadian Federal Election?
The Liberals under the leadership of Prime Minister, Paul Martin, have not run a good campaign so far: too much mud slingling, too much focus on health care issues. The Prime Minister could have stressed his record against the deficit or produced a new policy on government accountability, but he didn't do this.

The Conservative have the best ad of the campaign which pictures Liberals or bureaucrats throwing money into garbage cans while circus music plays in the background.

The Conservatives have an outside chance of winning a majority(155 seats in the House of Commons)but the most likely scenerio is a minority Government with a coalition between the Conservatives and The Bloc Quebecois. This would be a government that might last eight months before a non-confidence vote goes through and another election is called.

Lester Person never won a majority, but he was Prime Minister for five years in the 1960s.
