Google Revisited
Mood:  happy
For whatever reasons, the search engine, Google, appears to have went back to its original way of listing websites. "The Angel At Hotel California" is again back in the top ten results with the search term, "Hotel California". For awhile, it looked like one had to pay big bucks to get a top ten listing with them or any other search engine.

Give the guys from Google an e-mail validating their change of heart. Any thoughts or comments on the major search engines' listing criteria?

A Good Resource: The Toronto Star
Mood:  bright
I obtained many of my political cartoons from the best newspaper in Canada, the Toronto Star. For over a hundred years, the Star has crusaded for those who were voiceless or marginalized(like the poor or various ethnic groups). Recently, some journalists wrote a series of articles on the abuse of the elderly in nursing homes.

Our Newfoundland Vacation
A couple of years ago, the wife and I stayed at her brother's place in Newfoundland. The people there are very down-to-earth and friendly. If you need some work done around the house, a Newfy can do the job. The terrain is beautiful in a rugged way with lots of bays and fjords along the coast. It also has a history that dates back to the 15th century. Check it out.

Joke Of The Week
A couple was dressed and ready to go out for the evening. They turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on the phone line, covered their pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. They phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and the couple opened the front door to leave their house. The cat they had put out into the yard scoots back into the house. They don't want the cat shut in the house because "she" always tries to eat the bird. The wife goes out to the taxi while the husband goes inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, the man in hot pursuit. The wife doesn't want the driver to know the house will be empty. She explains to the taxi driver that her husband will be out soon. "He's just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother." A few minutes later, the husband gets into the cab... "Sorry I took so long," he says, as they drive away. "Stupid bitch was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out. Then I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked. I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into the backyard. The cabdriver hit a parked car...

Movie Review 61: Broken Arrow
This film is strictly for fans of the action adventure genre. Story line, characters, etc. are subordinate to the nonstop action and things that blow up real good(like four helicopters).

Director, John Woo knows how to keep things interesting with cliffhanger sequences and John Travolta is excellent as the psychotic major. Two and a half stars.

Movie Review 60: Groundhog Day
A terrific performance from Bill Murray in this quirky story about a TV reporter who is forced to relive Groundhog Day over and over. This is a movie that you can see again and again and still enjoy it. Three and a half stars.

South Park Goes After Canada Again
"Blame Canada" I'm sure you heard of the song that received an academy award nomination a couple of years ago. Now, the producers of South Park have a season's finale on the comedy network(Feb/13) called "Christmastime In Canada".

Here's Matt Stone's explanation for this satire:
"The episode is a homage to The Wizard of Oz, the idea being that Canada is a foreign, bizarre place...and just asserting that Canada is this totally strange fantasy place. The kids travel down Canada's "only road", through Quebec and Newfoundland, before eventually finding Parliament Hill and the Prime Minister."

Maybe Matt was visiting our webpages and got inspired to go on his own "Katimavik/Hotel California" journey.
