For the first time in 39 years, I visited my mother, Doreen Barron and my father, Edwin Barron in the same place. This was at Barrie Union Cemetery. My father died in March/1968. My mother passed away on Nov/10/06.
I have many fond memories of both my mother and father. My father was a World War Two veteran who guarded German POWs. After the war, he was promoted to sargent and taught militia personnel with The Grey and Simcoe Foresters. I was one of the recruits that he taught. He also got me a position as a temporary railway postal clerk during my highschool summer holidays. Eventually, I ended up with a permanent postal job in Toronto.
My mother always gave me sound advice on financial planning that I sometimes followed and sometimes didn't . She also helped me with various debts including my present mortgage.
She treated my wife, Irene, like a daughter and I'm very thankful for that.
Remembrance Day teaches us that we shouldn't take good things for granted. Our freedom from oppression was won by the sacrifices of others. I lost two uncles in World War Two.
We all have battles to fight in life and we must do our best to leave this world a better place than we found it.
There is divine help available for those who are committed to improving the lot of humanity.
With subprime housing market fears still lingering and the U.S. dollar reaching new lows against other currencies is there any cause for optimism in the world's biggest economy?
Well, there are bargains in the U.S. besides the real estate, the vacations and the consumer goods. The multinational companies on the Dow are still getting good profits from a lower dollar and high productivity. Also, the "Price to Earning Stock Ratios" are better in the U.S. markets than most other markets in the world.
In the past, U.S. investors have survived multiple wars, double digit inflation, the saving and loans meltdown, and the tech bubble.
The current currency, stock and real estate corrections leave opportunities that real investors shouldn't leave alone.
Who wouldn't want a piece of Microsoft, GE, Intel, Boeing, Coke A Cola, etc. at a good price? These companies still pay very good dividends.
I'm a Canadian and I'm going to put my overvalued Canadian dollars to good use in blue chip undervalued U.S. investments.

As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.
He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer. He tripped & fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, 'Oh my God!'
Time Stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. 'You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.' 'Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer'?
The atheist looked directly into the light, 'It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian'?
'Very Well,' said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:
'Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.'
The war against disease is one. The war against global pollution is another and, of course, there's the "War On Women" that many male cowards fight.
The cowardly slimeballs that do this crime should be taught a lesson in prison by fighting someone who's the same height and weight.
Brian Vallee's book, "War On Women" opened my eyes to the extent of this violence. Here's an excerpt from his book:
"Compare the raw numbers. In the same seven-year period when 4,588 U.S. soldiers and police officers were killed by hostiles or by accident, more than 8,000 women – nearly twice as many – were shot, stabbed, strangled, or beaten to death by the intimate males in their lives. In Canada, compared to the 101 Canadian soldiers and police officers killed, more than 500 women – nearly five times as many – met the same fate".
I've never struck a woman myself, but I did punch out a guy who hit a woman in front of me.
There's some indication that the penal system is soft on these goons, so campaigns are necessary to protect women from these brutes.
This story isn't about some kid fighting for a religious or political ideology. It's a story about an eight year old hero who's fighting for his life against a rare form of cancer.
Corey Pirotta has had cancer since he was three years old. The fact that he got this far against a very powerful enemy is a testimony to his desire to live.
I was at the fund raising event last night and it warms my heart to see how communities in Brampton came together for this brave boy. All the entertainment was for free. Over a hundred door prizes were donated by sponsors. At least, 200 buffet tickets were sold along with hundreds of raffle tickets.
Without a doubt, the biggest battles that mankind should be fighting are against pollution, ignorance, poverty and disease. These are the wars that unite us in a common struggle.

Not everything about the 1960s was great.
The movie below has to be one of the worse of all time. It had a crummy group, a crummy song, "Zombie Stomp", crummy dancing and ridiculous monsters in cheap Halloween costumes.
Believe it or not, I saw "The Horror At Party Beach" at my neighbourhood theatre in Barrie Ontario. This is entertainment for the brain dead.
Halloween is one of my favourite times because it allows us to step out of our present human existence and find an identity and/or a life somewhere else. Such a condition could be heavenly or hellish, however, it's up to each individual to choose his/her afterlife state.
It's hard to image that one could have fun as a zombie or vampire, but it beats being nothing or just human. If things don't work out in the afterlife, you can always get a job haunting fun houses in Niagara Falls. Many people will pay good money for a good scare.
Sure there's past lives, but there's past deaths too. The soul can continue to survive and go on to something else. At Halloween, that choice can be very unpleasant and scary. Have fun tricking and treating.
There is evidence that healing power can travel between humans, spirits and God. Spirits and human beings are sentient life forms capable of producing energy of one kind or the other. Healing energy or white light can be focused by life forms interconnected through a common mind.
The spiritual circle draws the negative/dark energy out of the patient/believer and then bathes the injured body part or organ with a warm relaxing photonic wave. The pain, the dark energy goes through sensitive human souls into spiritual beings. In a human, this pain is often felt as grief and despair.
There are different ways to obtain a healing. While a miracle can be instantaneous, a healing usually takes some time to complete.
Today, my wife, Irene, and I attended a seminar on Fibromyalgia.
The person giving the seminar (Dr. Whitcomb) is a chiropractor and not a doctor.
Fibromyalgia is a disease/condition of many symptoms that affects the nervous system in strange and painful ways. Lack of sleep, pains in different areas of the body and chronic fatique are a few of these symptoms.
Dr. Whitcomb and has had some success in treating this condition with chiropractic techiques in this office in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Three patients gave moving accounts of their condition before and after their treatment.
Dr. Whitcomb has written a book on the subject which I'm reading right now.
His treatments are on the expensive side ($7000 and up) which include hotel room and food. However, he certainly provides hope for people with this awful disease. Most doctors dismiss fibromyalgia patients as hypochondriacs.
More doctors and chiropractors should learn Dr. Whitcomb's techniques. Treatments should be cheaper and covered by public or private health insurance.
