Newfoundland Music And Flash MP3 Players
Mood:  energetic

Over the last few days, I've been uploading songs to various pages of my websites. My top ten Newfy songs were uploaded to www.daveandirene.ca in the "Newfoundland Pictures and Music Section".

I used flash MP players from Mixpo at http://www.mixpo.com/, MyPimpSpace at http://www.mypimpspace.com/flashmp3player/ and MyFlashFetish at http://www.myflashfetish.com/myspace-mp3-players/. All the players are for free, but "MyFlashFestish" only allows one song to be played on a page and it puts advertising for "Free Flash Players" in the corner of your website.

Mixpo has its own web hosting service, but you have to find space for "MyPimpSpace Songs." which loads quicker that Mixpo. Fortunately, I've one gig of cyberspace with Tripod so many of my tunes are stored there.

It's been lots of fun adding my favourite oldies to www.qualteam.info and http://qualteam.tripod.com/davidbarronstoptenmovies/id6.html . If you have songs you want to share with others on your website, please e-mail me the link at qualteam@yahoo.com

Christmas In Zen Happy Land

If the above looks like a spaced out website, you're right. The novelty Christmas song that I liked the most was "Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire."

The video that made me laugh the most was "Santa Claus Is Watching You."

This isn't "Bad Santa" or "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." If you want those, you can go to "YouTube."

The true meaning of Christmas is explored at the bottom of the page.

Take a journey to "Zen Happy Land" and see where it leads you.

Movie Review 117: Dead Man's Chest
Mood:  down

It's hard to believe that "Pirates Of The Caribibbean, Part Two" held the weekend boxoff record until eclipsed by Spiderman three this weekend.

This film used the usual formula for sequel success. Whatever the audience liked in the original, you gave them more of it: More fight scenes, more fights with the undead, more scenes with monsters, more scenes of fighting with a huge monster, more incredible escapes and more attempts at making Johnny Depp funny. Most of the time, he just looked loaded on alcohol.

Occasionally, something was funny like Jack Sparrow on a pole that resembled a huge shiskkebab. Most of the time, he resembled something done too long in the oven. Two stars.

Anti-War Songs Revisited

Awhile back, I created a top ten list of anti-war songs which many visitors found when then googled the term "anti-war song."

With the Iraqi and Afganistani wars still going strong, there is still much interest in the protest songs of the 50s and 60s.

Fortunately, I've been able to put the whole song list on a "Flash MP3 Player" at CUPW GUY IN CUPW LAND. This webpage includes the lyrics to my top anti-war song of all time, "One Tin Soldier".

I chose the union website because they've never supported any U.S. led war in recent history.

The Music Of Cartoonworld

With one gig of storage capacity for my blogs and websites, it's now possible to upload lots of great songs into cyberspace. This has been done at "Cartoonworld" on "The Music Of Cartoonworld Page".

Along with the tunes in my last entry, there are six others that communicate musically what Cartoonworld is about.

If movies can be enhanced by the right kind of music than webpages and life experiences can be as well.

With thousands of songs to choose from, the background music for creative works or a life lived can be arranged by an individual with some imagination.

Movie Review 116: Ghost Rider
Mood:  a-ok

It's hard not to like this movie with its references to the song "The Ghostriders In The Sky" and Peter Fonda movies like "Easy Rider" and "Race With The Devil." Peter Fonda does play a small but vital role as the Devil in this film.

The myth of the wild west ghost riders seeking escaped souls from hell permeates the whole story line. I had no problem relating to Nickolas Cage's character "Johnny Blaze" who was seeking a second chance to redeem himself after a mistake in the past.

The special effects were awesome and even scary in certain scenes. Three stars.

American Idol Gives Back
Mood:  a-ok

This was a special show from the "haves" in the U.S.  to the "have nots" of Africa and the United States.

The biggest highlight for me was Celine Dion and Elvis together singing "If I Can Dream". The song used the latest in haliographic projection to produce its wonderful effects, very real and very touching.

Another highlight was Josh Grogan singing "You raised Me Up" with "The Children's African Choir". Again, this was inspirational music that crosses all barriers and all races.

A big lowlight was Jack Black singing "Kiss Of A Rose" as an insane "idol contestant." It was just insane without being funny. Another lowlight was Annie Lennox's tepid version of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." Why didn't anyone have Simon and Garfunkle do their own hit?

No one got kicked off of American Idol from their performance yesterday. This was a classy thing to do. The emphasis of the performers and stars was on "Giving Back" not winning or self promotion. Three stars.

CUPW Ratifies Its Tentative Agreement With Canada Post
Mood:  a-ok

The marathon is over and the "yes side" collapsed with exhaustion at the finish line well ahead of the "no side". "Yes" walked in with 65.62% while "No" folded with 34.38%.

The largest margins of victory were in the Toronto area with 1215 votes yes/574 no in WLPP land. In Central Toronto, it was 1128 votes yes/413 no.

Despite 80% of CUPW locals being against the tentative agreement, there wasn't one part of country with a "no" majority.

I would like to thank all posties who visited my blog and website at www.cupw.info  during this debate.
