Christmas Time In The Canadian Post Office
Right after Halloween, the mail seems to pick up quite a bit especially where I work in the Toronto Exchange Office.

We're moving from the six day work week to the seven day workweek. Obviously, lots of overtime for Santa's big elves and witches/wizards.

Election Response Of The Week
Mood:  quizzical
This is not from a Canadian, but from an American citizen:
"The irony that the further right the U.S. leans(i.e. the more conservative, the more isolationist, the more certain that the Almighty is on their side, etc.), the more it resembles its so-called "enemies." This viewpoint seems to be lost on the majority of Americans.

The Unilateral Bush Show Continues
Don't expect much help from other countries in Iraq. It's a very dangerous environment there for anyone.

Who's going to pay for it? It's highly probable the American taxpayer will pick up close to the full tab relating to "peacekeeping activity and security in Iraq." Prepare for higher taxes and cuts in government services in the near future.

Hopefully, before the money runs out, a few good guys will discover Bin Laden's and Al-Zawahri whereabouts and collect a big reward. If not, you can vote for Hilary Rodham Clinton in the next election.

Terrorists Are The "Communists" Of The 21st Century
Without a doubt there were those in the past who relentlessly fear-mongered for political advantage. One of them was Senator Joe McCarthy.

A View Of Political Life In The Early 50s

There are rational fears and irrational fears. We must all be alert to separate the real threats from the bogus ones.

With a deep belief in the protective power of God, there's no need for Christians to filled with fear.

Every Vote Counts
Despite the fact there are millions and millions of voters in the U.S., every vote counts in this close presidential race. Let your voice be heard in the polling booth. I can't vote because I'm Canadian.

What's Scary About Tonight?
That despite the obvious failures of the Bush Administration to capture Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda gang, he's still looked upon as the main man by many Americans in the fight against terrorism.

More on the battle against terrorism can be found at Zfacts.com.

Have a happy and safe Halloween.

Objective Fact Checker In The Presidential Campaign
Mood:  a-ok
The website below seems more objective than other websites in checking the facts in the presidential race.

It's fortunate that all political issues can be closely scrutinized on the internet.

A well informed electorate is the best guardian for democracy and its institutions.

The site is FACTCHECK.ORG.

Top Ten Excuses If You're Caught Sleeping At Work
1. Let us pray....AMEN! 2. I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stress. 3. I wasn't sleeping. I was meditating on our mission statement and viewing a new vision of our place in the universe. 4. They told me at the blood bank this might happen. 5. I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance. 6. Whew! Guess I left the top off the whiteout. You probably got here just in time! 7. This is just a 15 MINUTE POWER NAP like they raved about in that time management course you sent me to. 8. The coffee machine is full of decaf. 9. Why did you interrupt me? While thinking on a higher plane, I almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem. 10. It was just a minor heart attack. Thanks for reviving me.
