Movie Review 56: Ebenezer
Mood:  down
Slimeball Scrooge battles ghosts, card players, whores and just about everyone else in this wild west version of a Christmas Carol. It's Jack Palance shooting blanks and hogwash from the hip and the lip. One star.

Christmas Presents And Gravy
Mood:  celebratory
We all know that at Christmas time, most of us have Christmas presents and turkey with lots of gravy. Although it's better to give than to recieve, these goodies are a real treat. Most companies even give Christmas bonuses to their employees.

At the post office, we get our presents, bonuses and gravy too. It's called Overtime and most of us work it.

Needless to say, Canadian posties also answer Christmas mail addressed to "Santa Claus, Canada, The North Pole, H0H H0H". Why shouldn't his elves get a little gravy every now and then?

Personal Milestone
Recently, I recieved a gold pin with a diamond in it from Canada Post for 30 years of service. While struggling to develop my artistic talents, Canada Post has been my security blanket. My personal experience with this company is very close to Dilbert's.

Movie Review 55: Bless The Child
The temptations of Christ are revisited with a gifted child that some evil cult pursues and captures.

Blends supernatural sequences with natural action very well.

Some scary sequences but certain special effects are repeated too much.

The young six year old girl is every bit a match for the satanic cult leader. This is not as bad as the critics say it is. Two and half stars.

Fantasy Worlds Top The Box Office-Again
Mood:  incredulous
"The Cat In The Hat" And "The Haunted Mansion" were number one and number two at the box office this week.

So why not take a vacation in your imagination and go to some other place than boring earth? In the meantime, the critics stayed at home and ate their turkey dinners in the real world.

Christmas Party Review
My wife and I attended a Christmas party at her brother's church in Cambridge Ontario. The food was re-processed turkey with instant potatoes and canned vegetables. Totally, a forgettable experience.

The entertainment, however, was quite good. For some reason, I ended up as the comedy relief for the evening by performing a rather campy karaoke version of Hank William's song, "Hey, Good Lookin, What You Got Cookin'." Cowboy hat and raunchy comments and all, it got some good laughs. Other memorable acts included a young girl who played "What Child Is This?" on the harp and a quintet who performed Christmas songs in the sytles of Do-Wop, Jazz, and Reggae. Three stars.

Clarissa's Journey
"There are many mysteries about where we came from and where we are going."

"In the sacred place, you can find the true light that pushes away the shadows. However, those who journeyed there have never returned. Their silence echoes along the cliffs of the great canyon."

"That's going to change."

Happy Thanksgiving Day
There are many billions on this planet who live in abject poverty. In North America, we truly live a blessed life in comparison. Hopefully, there'll come a time when poorer nations will be able to share our Thanksgiving.
