spaceyIt's rumored that the character of "Hellboy" is based on a legend of a fallen apostle who lost favour with Jesus and was sentenced to guard the "Gates of Hell" for a thousand years. The apostle in question loved the good life and avoided his responsibilities like the plague. This lead to his hellish gatekeeper job from 944 AD to 1944 AD.
From what I've read in the reviews, Hellboy is a well defined and funny character, much like the apostle that he's based on.
Nothing beats a superhero based on reality. This movie should blow the rest away at the box office.
